After WWII, Ken Maxwell, a decorated B-17 Bomber Squadron Commander, returned to his home in east Tennessee. He went to work for a roofing company in East Tennessee, learning the business from among the best. George Burrus, owner of the Tri-State Roofing Company of TN, received Ken as a student and they rapidly became business friends.
After serving under Mr. Burrus for several years and after teaching him, Ken was sent to Nashville to open a new branch for the company. Under Ken's leadership, the Nashville office grew to become very successful and with Mr. Burrus' support, Ken initiated a management buy-out of the Nashville branch as Maxwell Webber Roofing Inc.
In the mid 1970’s, John K. Maxwell, the eldest of three brothers, came on board fulltime after receiving his BS in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University. He currently stands as the President of the Company.
Continuing the legacy of Ken Maxwell, Maxwell Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc. has provided dependable roofing services to Middle-TN, roofing or re-roofing over 2,700 buildings. With a dedicated office staff, Maxwell Roofing has attracted some of the most knowledgeable estimating, sales, and project management professionals in the business.
The Nashville cityscape is dotted with structures covered by built-up roofs installed under the eye of Ken Maxwell and his sons. As new products have emerged as viable alternatives, particularly green roofing systems and specialty thermoplastic membrane systems, Maxwell has studied, trained for and equipped to install the new systems.
