Putting Safety First, Always

As the vertical expansion of a healthcare facility is one of the most complex changes to a building structure—including exposing structural steel tie-in points underneath the existing roof system—this project required excellent communication. In addition, the entire project was completed while hospital staff continued to work and care for patients. The relationship between Maxwell Roofing and the general contractor on the project, Turner Construction Company, was a pivotal element in the job’s overall success.

“Maxwell Roofing was an instrumental partner throughout the early stages of our project, as well as the remainder of the project. Ray Ferguson and this team presented a thorough plan to protect the existing roof systems through the vertical steel erection stages, provided continuous monitoring and assistance to mitigate risks of water intrusion throughout construction, and delivered a quality installation of the new roof systems,” said Erik Smithson, Project Manager, Turner Construction Company.

Additional Project Info:

Maxwell Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc. won a project safety award from Turner Construction Company while working on this project, recognizing the team’s continual commitment to the protection of everyone on working on the job site. Also contributing to safety was the communication, responsiveness, and professionalism from start to finish. “Maxwell responded to our needs quickly and professionally, and they provided dedicated services,” added Smithson.

“This project took a tremendous amount of coordination between multiple trades working together at the direction of Turner Construction, which was the general contractor. Being that we were working on expanding an existing hospital over existing operational hospital floors, the project was a success and has actually won a national award.”
