professional portrait of Michael Cox.

For 15 years, Michael Cox has been a steady and trusted presence at Maxwell Roofing. He is a person who leads with experience and who has a deep appreciation for the craft of roofing. As an estimator and project manager, Michael brings a unique blend of hands-on skills, problem-solving, and leadership that make him an invaluable part of our team.

Michael’s journey is a reminder of what truly sets Maxwell Roofing apart: talented people who care deeply about the work they do.

From West Virginia to Tennessee: A Career Built One Roof at a Time

Michael grew up in a small town in West Virginia before making his way to Pennsylvania in 1987, when his roofing career officially began. Over the years, he worked for several roofing companies across Pennsylvania and Maryland, gaining the kind of practical, real-world experience that can only come from time spent on a roof, solving problems in the field.

“Most of my knowledge comes from years of hands-on experience,” he shared.

In 2010, he made another big move—this time to Tennessee—and joined Maxwell Roofing as a foreman. What started as a new chapter quickly became a long-term home.

Growing Through Every Role

During his 15 years at Maxwell, Michael has worn several hats: foreman, service superintendent, service manager, and now estimator and project manager. Each step in his journey has built on the last, giving him a deep understanding of the entire operation.

Of all the projects he’s worked on, one stands out: the slate roof installation at Currey Ingram Academy in 2013. It was detailed. It was complex. And it required a level of teamwork and craftsmanship that perfectly reflects what Michael values most about Maxwell Roofing.

“Seeing the finished product and knowing I played a key role was extremely rewarding,” he said.

Precision, Communication, and Keeping Projects Moving

Today, his role blends technical expertise with coordination and customer care. On any given day, Michael might be reviewing active projects, coordinating with field teams, estimating service work, visiting job sites, or working directly with clients and vendors. Having worked on both the production and service sides, he understands how details turn into results—and how important it is to keep information flowing.

“My goal each day is to keep projects moving forward safely, on time, and within budget,” Michael said.

That commitment shows up in the way he approaches every project, no matter the size. Michael also appreciates the fact that every roof brings new variables with different systems, different site conditions, and different client needs. Rather than seeing that as a challenge, it’s what keeps him engaged.

“Each job pushes me to think creatively and adapt quickly,” he shared.

A Workplace That Feels Like Family

Ask Michael what he appreciates most about Maxwell, and the answer is immediate: the people.

“If I had to describe Maxwell Roofing in one word, it would be teamwork,” he shared. “No matter the size or challenge of a project, everyone works together and supports one another to get the job done safely, efficiently, and with quality results.”

He speaks often and proudly about the culture of communication, ownership, and support, values that have shaped both his experience and the company’s reputation.

Life Outside the Office

When he’s not coordinating projects or walking roofs, Michael enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Melissa. The two love taking motorcycle rides, visiting family, and hanging out with their crew of pets: their dog, Sadie, and four cats—Dolly, Dottie, Macy, and Mama Cat. Good food is another shared hobby, whether it’s delicious seafood or a great hamburger from one of their favorite local spots.

We’re proud to celebrate Michael and grateful for everything he brings to our team—today and every day.
