Superintendent
Job Description
The superintendent is responsible for managing their assigned crews to ensure that a project moves in the proper direction safely and profitably. Superintendents ensure that work is done on schedule, within budget, and with the quality and workmanship expected by industry standards. The superintendent meets daily with project leads to discuss project requirements, safety hazards, and resource requirements. Superintendents may also need to interact with customers and maintain positive relationships with clients.
The superintendent is responsible for the following:
- Meeting with and overseeing team leaders on a daily basis
- Maintaining safety, quality, productivity, and morale within their projects
- Helping the company with recruiting and hiring the best talent on the market
- Setting daily goals and standards for their team
- Providing education and training in leadership, personal development, and the trade
- Recognizing and rewarding employee accomplishments
- Holding teams accountable by measuring the progress of their crew toward the established quality, productivity, and safety goals
- Managing materials for projects from acquisition to completion
- Conducting inspection to ensure work complies with standards
- Coordinating with other trades to meet the needs of MRSM
- Creating daily reports for the project manager on progress and changes in work (via e-mail, Harness app, iPhone)
- Investigating all incident claims immediately and reporting to construction manager
- Conducting daily safety inspections of jobs and reporting results via Harness App
